Despite above-average growth DIW study: Berlin economy has to catch up a lot

The Berlin economy although growing, but far from being caught up with other business locations. These Berlin should improve investment in schools and training programs, says the German Institute for Economic Research. Especially because of the high number of company start-ups.

The federal capital has the view of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) economically achieved a turnaround. But the city kick in productivity and thus also of their income levels on the spot, according to the new study “Economic and labor market of Berlin”, which was presented on Wednesday.

The fact that the Berlin economy is growing more strongly than the national average, looks DIW president Marcel Fratzscher as “catching up”. Here Berlin has a lot of potential if the country would improve investment in schools and training programs.
